Lost on Ganymede by Drew Bond
Created in Unreal Engine 5, this project is a 3D First Person Shooter video game set on Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter. In 2089, Ganymede is a human outpost with evidence of primitive life, but the research team has gone silent. You are tasked with investigating their disappearance. Do you accept?
Over the course of my academic career in Digital Arts, I have been fascinated with the video game industry, enjoying not only playing those games, but also creating them and understanding how they work. This game is meant to be the successor to a previous game I had worked on in 2018 as part of a game development camp, which was made in Unity 2018. That game was a very primitive first step for me into the larger game development world, and it’s what made me want to pursue this career path. I wanted this game to be a sort of reflection for me, looking at how much I have learned over the past few years across all Digital Arts. My goal was to recreate and reimagine every aspect of the game, including the assets, game systems, UI/UX and sounds in Unreal Engine 5, compared to the original Unity Engine.
